Micromax launches two Windows-based handsets

Indian second largest smartphone maker Micromax on Monday launched two Windows-based phones – Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 — priced at Rs. 9,500 and Rs. 6,500, respectively.
The new handsets, based on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1, will be available across retail stores and e-commerce portals starting early next month, the company said.

While the company has partnered with Microsoft for the operating system, it has partnered with Qualcomm for the processor.

“Micromax is the only Indian mobile phone brand to be present across the two most popular operating platforms in the world. We will continue to introduce products and services that simplify and enhance the data experience of consumers across markets,” Sanjay Kapoor, Chairman, Micromax, said.

Sporting a five-inch HD IPS display, the dual-SIM Canvas Win 121 is powered with a 2000 mAh battery and has 32GB expandable memory, 8MP rear camera with flash and 2MP front camera.

The Canvas Win W092 sports a four-inch display and is powered with a 1500 mAh battery, 5MP rear camera with flash and 0.3MP front camera.

With a 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM, users can store music, videos, images and documents in W092.

Both smartphones support Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi, and have Microsoft’s cloud storage tool OneDrive with other capabilities such as Bing, Skype, Xbox Games, and Office 365.
